For fifteen years (1965–1980) Sidsel H. Paaske (1937–1980) was a central figure in Oslo’s art world. Her work Brent Fyrstikk (The Match) (1966) is often described as Norway’s first pop art sculpture. By the time of her premature death aged just 43, she had already had ten solo exhibitions and participated in as many group shows. The explores Paaske’s multifaceted career and why the achievements of such a complex and interesting artist have been largely overlooked by later generations.
