Ramona Salo’s work is based on Sami culture and identity. Elements from her personal background are interwoven with contemporary expressions and she reflects on exploring materials, textures, contrasts, origins, and identity. Through textiles and storytelling, Salo invites the audience on a journey through Sami culture, reflecting on definitions of “Sami-ness” and pointing to challenges indigenous peoples experience today, thus offering a personal perspective on a diverse culture.
