Alia Farid (b. 1985) is the third recipient of the Lise Wilhelmsen Art Award. The Kuwaiti-Puerto Rican artist works with various media, including textiles, film, and sculpture. In her work, Farid brings forth stories from the present and past that contrast with history books. She explores questions of conflict and control, and how power and violence are exerted towards nature, human practices, and everyday life. The exhibition at Henie Onstad is her first in the Nordic Region.
